"Confident" guys will just give orders. E.g., have you ever seen how a black dude hits on a chick? He'll say, "Lemme get your phone number." Or if he's hitting you up for money in the street, he says, "Lemme get five dollars." And then if you give it to him, he'll tell you to give him more. They're not shy about telling you what to do.
There are a certain number of people in the population at any given time who don't feel comfortable saying "no," so they just do what they're told in these situations. This applies to sales, too; e.g. your company can offer some sort of warranty, or cardmember protection, or whatever, which maybe is a total scam, but if you tell people, "We also offer a _____" and lead them in the direction of signing up for it, a certain percentage will go ahead and do it even though it's retarded. The same applies with chicks.
E.g., maybe the chick doesn't realize she can just say, "I don't give out my phone number but I'll take yours" or something else non-confrontional like that, so she just goes ahead and gives him her number.
Nice guys, though, will say, "Hey, I was wondering if I could get your phone number" or something along those lines, which could still work if he's GL enough, but ordering chicks around will work even better. The reality is, being presumptuous will often get you what you want; e.g. a common seduction method is to just put your hands down her pants and rub her pussy to get her turned on shortly after you get her alone and sitting on the bed with her, rather than being like, "Hey, do wanna get naked," which she could answer no to.
Any time you ask a chick a question like, "Are we gonna ..." or "Do you wanna ..." instead of ordering her around or just physically taking her without saying anything, you open the door for her to be like, "Nah" or "I'll think about it" or something else that results in your not getting what you wanted. If you ask, then she worries about making the wrong choice; if you don't offer her a choice, but just give orders or physically do what you want with her, then she falls naturally into the pattern of being led, which to chicks is like being a fish in water.
She'll give it up to the more "confident," i.e. more demanding and presumptuous, guy instead. And you'll probably be paying the bill for that later in some way or another. E.g. she'll run up her credit card trying to please that first, "abusive" boyfriend, and you'll end up paying it off down the line, when you get with her, if you aren't broke and therefore irrelevant to the situation.
In 2020, it's almost better to be broke, because at least you avoid the worst forms of cuckoldry. One of the worst situations to be in, is that of being the sorta-kinda-but-not-really guy with regard to having his shit together, enough that you end up with a chick but then can't keep her and then you get fucked over. You probably will end up getting some very used goods and then getting treated with a lot of contempt in court (kind of ironic, courts charge people with contempt yet they themselves are pretty contemptuous).
Here's another example of the same kind of phenomenon. My mom has gotten romance scammed for five-figure sums by dudes from Nigeria. I could have taken charge and blocked those guys from her Facebook, but I figured, nah, it's not my place to do that, and I'll rely on her to do it. Sometimes she was like, "Well I wouldn't mind if you just blocked all those guys" but I was like, "Why should I do that, when she can just use her intellect not to fall for it."
Doesn't work that way. You gotta take charge and block them, or she'll keep giving them money, because it's just natural for women to obey men who order them around. So if you let another man be the one ordering her around, he'll take what he wants from her, and you'll suffer for it. This is why dads have to be "protective" and not let men get in a position to where they can be telling their daughter to do sexual stuff with them; because she'll just naturally obey.
The consequence of my not taking charge and blocking those dudes is that now my mom is more reluctant to give me money for anything; e.g. she'll say that she feels like everyone, including me, is scamming her. I'm trying to go to school and take a few classes in foreign language, so I can moneymaxx or be involved in various projects, and she's reluctant to open her wallet for that, but she would help out these Nigerians because they talk sexy to her and make her feel good, even though she knows she really shouldn't fall for it.

She gets calls and receives correspondence from people pretending to be from the car dealership or whatever, and saying she needs to pay or her price will go up. These are people she never did business with before; they don't actually offer a service, but just exploit people who are trusting enough to believe they're legit. It's sad to see. My dad would've put a stop to this stuff, back when he still had his cognitive abilities, but he's gone downhill, and now she treats him like shit, even though she gets $2,000/month to take care of him.
